you said I’m taller than the moon
I said I know, ‘cause I can’t see you very well
I rooted for you, while you rooted around up there

you held me at bay, by the ambling shore
calling out from beyond the blue

I heard, despite the distance
I howled back, oh to find my place
now the mountain shines over water
but there’s no moon tonight

you held my hand
the jewel in your box
the gem to light your way

I feel you now, more than when you were the moon
dancing ‘round my ever changing orbit, or was it yours
you do for me what you did before
just now it happens on the other side of the door

 I’ll come to see you
and I will love you
and all you meant to me
 you still do

the world is one again
 and for the record
I don’t forget the times
the times you said you loved me true
oh no, I do

here I am on a cloudy day sitting down to write a song I don’t know what to say I don’t know what to do just know I gotta do it on my own on my own I wake this morning as I see myself looking a little haggard worse for wear what’s that map you’re reading that map of many lines it’s your own face doin time doin time and hey, its okay you’re just telling the truth the sun don’t shine when it’s foggy but it’s clearing overhead as I lie in bed did I lie in bed with you with you catch the wind blow through your hair hummingbird flying through the air lighting on my red plastic flower feeder the cat and dog are fighting like cats and dogs peace in the household that’s all I ask git along little doggie ...and kitty and all the ways you see your life all the ways you hear your voice all the ways you hold your own you know you’ll be okay again again starting to see sun shining through light flooding in, into the blue just think of these days as a new flower dress a sleeveless season coming soon soon

walking down memory street
pictures of this and words of that
faces and places so long away
call me back to another day
I smile and cry and find
 every emotion in between
on memory’s dusty road

Now I’m back in time to that giddy laugh
new love, words of hope and future
exciting and scary and heart pounding too
I remember the roller coaster ride
 as if it were yesterday
that dusty road walked together

lightning bolts of love and home
 goodness in life, hardship too
pets and class pictures, flowers pressed in books
mama saved my artwork and report cards
a smiley face she drew in the margin
 next to the teachers remarks:
“jean would do better if  she applied herself
and stopped talking to her neighbor”

it’s truly a favorite piece in my collection
yeah I save these things, these walks into the air of distant past
just like my mama did before me, I’ll take her sentimental legacy
and all  to remember, to remember the long stretch
 that dusty road home
 home home home
 here I am I’m home

what would you say if I wandered up to you kissed you on the cheek, said how do you do you’re sweeter than the night air, lush as honey pie no one compares, not sweet peas on the vine o my dear I love you, I want you by my side song of lark on wind, wee thrush on the line won’t you say you love me, carry my heart home seeing you is heaven, land of hearth and loam tell me that you care for me, hold my hand alone waltz me through the fields, whisper sweet love tomes never ill or sad of heart, breath of honeybees honeysuckle dance on blissful bended knee

lullaby 04:25
all your life, or so it seems crow in the wind, lean to and fro on a lamppost, out your window getting by catch your breath, go steady on toil your own, cast your eyes to confetti skies, petals fly by and by all your days are worn this way leave behind your woes rest your head upon my heart lo the beating slows dream unfolds oh little child roam through fields hum lullabies as flowers in the meadow quiver by all your nights are borne this way, cradled in your quake oh my love go back to sleep kiss me when you wake day begins, oh sun to shine soar so high nest in the bow of a tree, swaying ever gently by

we were charmed into storms of hilarity we collapsed on each other, laughing hysterically he told me a dream of salt-and-pepper milk goats and them kids are lapping at the belly of the doe at the time, we thought it was kinda noble only way to get through that is not to grovel the dream went on, aint a hell of a lot of milk left and them kids are tearing her to pieces the profession of motherhood had accustomed her to forgetfulness for how else could she manage to keep on repeating this the dream ended and we both woke up telling each other more tales we were swept up in tears of disparity at the time we were taken with the parody

about

in her 4th studio release of alt-folk Americana chanteuse songs, jean's new songs break your heart, then put it back together again, better than before. Recorded in West Seattle at Bill's home studio, life was shifting in profound ways. A studio move, and this album was created post-romantic chapter for jean and Bill. I remain ever proud of our navigation to continue to share a musical union, which has grown leaps with all that kissy stuff outta the way...
