about

My mom and I were very close. I wrote this on her birthday June 14, 2003 - four years after her passing. It was the first time I was able to write a song celebrating her in this way.

lyrics

When I hear your voice
I hear my own
When I see your face
I smile inside alone

And I don’t know why
I don’t know why
I don’t know why I still cry

When I think of you I smile
We had the same sparkling eyes
But there’s a sadness in the way you shine for me

And I don’t know why
I don’t know why
I don’t know why I still cry

I cry a tear for all the years
You held my hand through all my fears

I cry a tear for all the years
You held my hand through all my fears

I dry my tears for all the years
You held my hand through all my fears

When I hear your voice
I smile again
